Flying and working on your own Eclipse 500 are exhilarating experiences. Our comprehensive training programs equip pilots and mechanics with the knowledge they need for the safest possible operation of the Eclipse 500. The multi-phase pilot training curriculum, including training in full-motion flight simulators and post-certification mentoring, is designed for pilots of all skill levels.
Eclipse Aviation pilot training philosophy.Eclipse Aviation believes that safety is an eco-system of inter-related parts encompassing everything from the aircraft to the pilot to aircraft operations. From the beginning, Eclipse has demonstrated its commitment to safety by designing a safe and reliable jet and investing in a comprehensive training program. The training program will provide transitioning pilots with the skills you need to become an Eclipse 500 pilot. This training focuses on you, the pilot, and not just on learning the aircraft. It will concentrate on improving your management skills and judgment. As an Eclipse 500 pilot, you will be required to complete significant pre-classroom coursework that includes basic instructional material about jet aircraft operation, familiarization of the Eclipse 500 systems, and unexpected situation hands-on training. This training ensures that you will be ready to begin the intensive Eclipse 500 type-rating transition course.

The Eclipse 500 mentor program is critical to the success of the Eclipse 500 Type Transition Training program. Eclipse 500 operators will have the option of completing the requirements of FAR 61.63 with an Eclipse Approved Mentor while completing their mentorship program. Others will require mentoring because of a lack of jet piloting experience. In either case, the Eclipse pilot will benefit from the Eclipse 500 mentoring experience.
After completing all other phases of training and obtaining a type rating, a new Eclipse 500 pilot may require additional flight hours with an authorized Eclipse 500 Mentor Pilot. The Eclipse 500 Mentor Pilot will provide the final assessment of the pilot's readiness to safely fly solo in an Eclipse 500.
The mentor provides support for all phases of flight, as well as guidance as deemed necessary. The role of the mentor is to ensure that the new Eclipse 500 pilot is able to meet the challenges of turbofan flight, initiate solutions, and demonstrate the capability to act as Pilot-In-Command without intervention from the mentor.
Mentoring is one of the most important roles in the Eclipse initial training process. The mentor aids newly rated pilots in gaining the confidence to cope with and resolve a variety of situations that are normally encountered during aircraft operation.
A Mentor Pilot is NOT an employee of Eclipse Aviation, but is an independent contractor trained by Eclipse at the mentor's expense.

Eclipse Aviation offers an Initial Maintenance Training Course for owners and operators of the Eclipse 500 who want to maintain and perform line maintenance on their own aircraft. The course is also open to an owner's designated mechanic or to technicians from Fixed Base Operators and similar organizations.
The FAA-approved curriculum includes ten days of hands-on coursework conducted at Eclipse's Customer Training Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This intensive instructor-led training covers Eclipse 500® systems, inspection procedures, troubleshooting skills, and provides an overview of the Eclipse 500's Avio Maintenance Computer. Students who complete each phase of the course and pass its final exam will have access to another Web-based program designed to provide supplemental maintenance instruction available on any computer with Internet access. The Initial Maintenance Training Course meets the requirements of 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 43 and is in accordance with 14 CFR 91 or 135 operations. The course was developed using Air Transport Association (ATA) Specification 104, Guidelines for Aircraft Maintenance Training and the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Guidelines for Business Aviation Maintenance Training. The instructor-led courses and E-learning modules were developed by Eclipse Aviation and Global Jet Services. The Eclipse 500 fleet is growing, especially in the United States. If you own or manage an FBO, now is the time to prepare for these aircraft and enroll one of your maintenance technicians in our rewarding program.
