Expanded Eclipse 500 Standard Equipment List Underscores Company's Dedication to Safety
Second primary flight display and radial tires added to list of standard equipment
- July 23, 2001 - EAA AirVenture 2001, OSHKOSH, WI — Eclipse Aviation Corporation today announced the addition of two safety-enhancing components to the standard configuration of the Eclipse 500 jet. The lightweight, twinjet will now be delivered standard with three large flight displays including one multi-function display (MFD) and two primary flight displays (PFDs) and radial tires.

The second PFD, previously offered as optional equipment, adds another dimension of safety in the Eclipse 500 jet by increasing the level of redundancy in the all-glass cockpit. Avidyne Corporation will provide the PFDs and MFD.

The Michelin-made radial tires provide more mass, durability, safety and heat resistance than bias tires and will be capable of use on unpaved runways. Only 15 percent of the world’s aircraft are currently equipped with radial tires.1

“Safety is always our primary focus,” said Dr. Oliver Masefield, vice president of engineering for Eclipse. “Eclipse 500 owners and passengers will benefit from safety-enhancing features that are second-to-none in the industry.”
These recent additions enhance the safety of the aircraft while providing Eclipse 500 customers with more for the low $837,500 purchase price (in June 2000 economics) of this revolutionary new aircraft. The Eclipse 500 standard equipment list includes:

- Comprehensive avionics and electronics suite
- Full IFR capability

About Eclipse:

Eclipse Aviation is in the business of designing, certifying and producing modern, affordable jet aircraft that will revolutionize the transportation market. The company is applying advanced electronics systems, manufacturing and business practices to produce aircraft that cost less than a quarter of today's small jet aircraft, will be significantly safer and easier to operate than those of today, and have the lowest cost of ownership ever achieved in a jet aircraft.

The goal of Eclipse is to bring the word "personal" into aviation, making it possible for commercial air passengers to move directly between cities on a quick, affordable and convenient basis. It will also allow pilot owners to enter the world of jet-powered aviation.
