Eclipse Aviation Corporation Names Vice President of Avionics and Electronics
ALBUQUERQUE, NM - August 13, 2002 - Eclipse Aviation Corporation today announced the promotion of Don Burtis, formerly director of avionics and electronics, to vice president of avionics and electronics. Burtis has more than 30 years of experience in high-tech product development. He has played an integral role in the development of Eclipse Aviation's Avio™ intelligent flight system, a comprehensive avionics and aircraft systems management package that provides the Eclipse 500 jet with a higher level of integration and reliability than other business aircraft on the market today.

As vice president of avionics and electronics, Burtis will continue to lead the company's developments in electronics systems that, combined with innovative propulsion and manufacturing technologies, enable Eclipse Aviation to produce the Eclipse 500 jet – an aircraft that sells for approximately one-quarter the cost of the least expensive jet on the market today.

With its low acquisition and low direct operating costs, the Eclipse 500 is poised to revolutionize the way people travel by enabling the creation of alternatives to today's commercial air transportation system.

“Electronics systems are one of the three pillars of innovation that make the low purchase price of the Eclipse 500 possible,” said Vern Raburn, president and CEO of Eclipse Aviation. “Don and his team play a very important role in creation of the Eclipse 500 and I believe there is nobody more qualified than Don to lead this aspect of our business.”

Prior to joining Eclipse, Burtis held executive management positions with UTM, the Power Electronics Group for Capstone Turbine Corporation, PCSI, and General Magic where he gained experience in taking technical products from concept through design and into high-volume production. Earlier in his career, Burtis worked on unmanned satellite experiments, designed controllers for environmental test systems, and managed a user interface validation service in cooperation with Apple Computer.
About Eclipse:

Eclipse Aviation is in the business of designing, certifying and producing modern, affordable jet aircraft that will revolutionize the transportation market. The company is applying advanced electronics systems, manufacturing and business practices to produce aircraft that cost less than a quarter of today's small jet aircraft, will be significantly safer and easier to operate than those of today, and have the lowest cost of ownership ever achieved in a jet aircraft.

The goal of Eclipse is to bring the word "personal" into aviation, making it possible for commercial air passengers to move directly between cities on a quick, affordable and convenient basis. It will also allow pilot owners to enter the world of jet-powered aviation.
