FAA Awards Organizational Designated Airworthiness Representative Credential to Eclipse Aviation Corporation
Designation indicative of the skill and experience of Eclipse Aviation's quality assurance organization
ORLANDO, FL - September 9, 2002 - Eclipse Aviation, manufacturer of the Eclipse 500 jet, today announced the FAA's appointment of the company as an Organizational Designated Airworthiness Representative (ODAR), an appointment rarely achieved this early in a company's history.
The FAA's designation of Eclipse Aviation as an ODAR is a testament to our excellent quality system and the high level of experience of our team, said Vern Raburn, president and CEO of Eclipse Aviation. This designation has been achieved so early through our very close working relationship with the FAA.
The ODAR designation authorizes Eclipse Aviation to train, nominate and manage its own designated airworthiness representatives (DAR). Among other things, a DAR is responsible for making determinations of conformity and airworthiness for aircraft, engines and their parts on behalf of the FAA.
This designation will help provide Eclipse Aviation with the agility to meet its high-volume production goals while maintaining the highest level of quality standards.

Eclipse Aviation is in the business of designing, certifying and
producing modern, affordable jet aircraft that will revolutionize
the transportation market. The company is applying advanced
electronics systems, manufacturing and business practices
to produce aircraft that cost less than a quarter of today's
small jet aircraft, will be significantly safer and easier
to operate than those of today, and have the lowest cost
of ownership ever achieved in a jet aircraft.
The goal of Eclipse is to bring the word "personal" into aviation, making it possible
for commercial air passengers to move directly between cities on a quick, affordable and convenient
