Type Certificate Application Filed for the Eclipse 500 Jet
Eclipse Aviation announces another milestone in the development of its revolutionary new aircraft
National Business Aircraft Association (NBAA) 2000, NEW ORLEANS - October 9, 2000 - Eclipse Aviation Corporation today announced that Williams International, under contract to Eclipse, has filed a type certificate application with the FAA for the Eclipse 500 jet aircraft. Once the application is approved, the FAA is expected to confirm the amendment status of Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 23 which will be the basis for certification of the Eclipse 500, as well as the Special Conditions for which compliance must be demonstrated.

Reflecting the high level of integration between the airframe and the engine, the type certificate application for the EJ22 turbofan engine was filed simultaneously.

"The filing of our type certificate applications comes after our preliminary design review and a great deal of communication with the FAA," said Vern Raburn, president and CEO of Eclipse Aviation. "I am confident that our diligence and open approach to working with the FAA will result in the very successful and timely completion of the Eclipse 500 certification process."

The applications were filed by Williams International as part of an agreement between the two companies announced earlier this year. Under the agreement, Williams is designing, developing and certifying the aircraft. In addition Williams is designing and producing the powerful, highly efficient EJ22 turbofan engine for Eclipse Aviation"

The pressurized, six-place Eclipse 500 jet aircraft is planned for certification in June 2003 and will be delivered to customers in August 2003. List price is $837,500 in June 2000 dollars.

Full-size and fuselage mock-ups of the Eclipse 500 are available for viewing October 10 through October 12, 2000, at the Eclipse Aviation exhibit located in Hall F of the Ernest Morial Convention Center, booth #3280.
About Eclipse:

Eclipse Aviation is in the business of designing, certifying and producing modern, affordable jet aircraft that will revolutionize the transportation market. The company is applying advanced electronics systems, manufacturing and business practices to produce aircraft that cost less than a quarter of today's small jet aircraft, will be significantly safer and easier to operate than those of today, and have the lowest cost of ownership ever achieved in a jet aircraft.

The goal of Eclipse is to bring the word "personal" into aviation, making it possible for commercial air passengers to move directly between cities on a quick, affordable and convenient basis. It will also allow pilot owners to enter the world of jet-powered aviation.
